The method.
Any system that accumulates a record over time will eventually be asked to justify itself. Why do you believe this about me? What is it based on? Can you forget it? Most systems cannot answer, because they were built to accumulate, not to account.
Made at design time, or not at all.
- Admit selectively
- Nothing enters the record by default. State is admitted against a standard. A record that accepts everything is not a record; it is a liability.
- Keep the receipt
- Every conclusion remains traceable to the observations behind it, for as long as the conclusion stands. A belief that cannot show its evidence is retracted, not defended.
- Let go cleanly
- Withdrawal and erasure are engineered paths, not support tickets. A system that cannot forget on demand does not own its state; its state owns it.
- Ship the evidence
- A claim ships with the measurement behind it, or it does not ship. Systems built this way do not need to be believed. They can be checked.
Two materials, one discipline.
Applied to human records, the method becomes the Selvedge Graph: conclusions that are individually true, accountable to their evidence, and erasable on demand. Patent-pending.
Applied to code, it becomes the Selvedge Brain: an AI agent's accumulated state, admitted selectively, enforced by gates rather than suggestions, and measured continuously.
The two are not siblings by accident. The Brain built the Graph; the Graph's standards hardened the Brain. Each is evidence that the discipline transfers.
